Calling the RINO on the carpet.

Brian over at One Oar in the Water has a great idea - call Senator V (I guess it really is for Vendetta) to the statehouse carpet to explain his vote. Read more here.

I'd like to know why Voinovitch is a RINO. Could you explain what a "true" Republican thinks?

I'll check back to read your answer.

Voinovitch supports increasing taxes, increased governmental control over one's daily life (check his proposals concerning the Great Lakes), increased gun control, government oversight of constitutionaly protected speech (i.e. the Fairness Doctrine), slashing spending by the US military, and despite his most recent vote, amnisty to foreign invaders (aka "un-invited guest workers"). All of these positions put him in camp with the Democrats, yet he continues to receive support and money from the Republican Party.

I suspect, were he alive and campaigning today, that Democrats would refer to John F. Kennedy as a DINO - he proposed lowering taxes, a stronger military, and in many cases fewer government programs ("Ask not what your country can do for you...)

So a true Republican believes in:

1. low taxes
2. decreased government control
3. no gun control
4. freedom of speech
5. increaded military spending
6. barring foreign invaders

Great list. How does the Bush/Cheney team fit with all of this?

Which GOP candidate meets these requirements?

Thanks

It's a good start Muck.

Hmmm... correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never said Bush was a model Republican, but he's far better than our former governor.

As far as to who's the best Republican in my mind, just look at who the left wing press is attempting to tear apart.

I much prefer the term RHINO.

I derive much pleasure from shouting out the "Haah!!!"

It better demonstrates my true feelings too ;-)
